This market will resolve “Yes” if Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are observed physically shaking hands with one another at any point during the 2026 FIFA World Cup window. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The 'handshake' must occur while the listed players are on the pitch or the bench area; handshakes in the locker room or other areas will not count. This can occur before, during, or after the match. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or no qualifying handshake can be confirmed within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official match footage and broadcast video; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Polymarket uses a central limit order book (CLOB) model — you can buy or sell shares of any outcome at the current market price, or place limit orders at your target price. All positions are settled in USDC when the market resolves.
Markets resolve through UMA's Optimistic Oracle. After the market closes, a proposer submits a resolution, followed by a 2-hour dispute window. If no dispute is raised, the resolution is accepted. Disputed markets go to UMA token holder vote.
